Belfast Xmas shopping...
So it is that time of year again, Christmas, the season of good will?
Well maybe, as long as you don't mind the stampede that is Belfast city centre (i am quite sure everywhere is the same).
I should probably apologise for being in the way of the many people who are rushing to get everything done (so much of a hurry that they are unable to walk around others, instead they shall plow through the crowds of shoppers). After all it is only them that need to get somewhere fast, all those other people are just pretending to shop.
'Tis a merry time of year, shalt we all be merry, even though so many a folk have ney feckin' manners or consideration at this joy'us time o' year.
Indeed, if i were Santa i would feel rather uneasy, as there are so little deserving of pressies under there trees this year (but that is the real Xmas).
Christmas is a time for gluttony, sloth and trampling others in your wake as you attempt to make head-roads to the shops to furnish your loved ones desires (and fuck the rest of the population).
I am of-course just focusing on the negative aspects, there are many nice things going on too (all be it from a much smaller and under-appreciated percentage of the community) like the family appeal, giving gifts to people you will never see (as they may not be in a position to provide them themselves) and i was very impressed to see that someone had donated a brand new DVD player in one of the centres (i have to say this gave me some hope that as a race of beings some of us still have it within ourselves to be unselfish and actually think of others).
It is written that the meek will inherit the earth, which is a lovely concept. But when will this happen and how meek mest they be?
