Champions League (semi finals) Half way there!

So, the First leg of semi final finishes "one Nil to the Arsenal" (how apt).
Yet another very good performance (in Europe), they totally outplayed Villarreal and deserved at least one goal.

They did manage to score three times on the night but had two goals ruled out for offside. The first offside decision was a joke, I don't know what the linesman was doing but what ever it was didn't involve using his eyes (in relation to the game). It was a perfectly good goal...
The second (disallowed) goal may well have been a correct decision, I can't remember what happened.

Villarreal also had a good penalty shout turned down, so maybe you could say the incorrect decisions evened themselves out in the end. I'm not convinced that this is was the case but what's done is done.

The most important thing is the fact Arsenal managed to keep a clean sheet and will have a one goal lead to take to Spain for the second leg. As long as no one gets injured in the Spurs game at the weekend (which is not totally out of the question due to the nature of the game) they should be able to go into the Villarreal game with confidence. One goal in Spain next week will leave Villarreal needing three to go through, considering Villarreal have only scored a handful of goals in the entire tournament so far it will be some task for them to put three past the excellent defence.
But this is football, and anything can happen, that is why it is the greatest game on earth.

So I have no intention of taking anything for granted, we'll just have to wait until next Tuesday to find out who goes through to the final in Paris. I just hope it's Arsenal......
